Alaska Airlines launched its nonstop Los Angeles–La Paz route in 2024, reconnecting La Paz directly with the United States for the first time in years.

The route was announced as a major expansion of air connectivity between Southern California and Baja California Sur. The first flights operated between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and La Paz International Airport (LAP), with the service later expanding beyond its initial schedule.

Today, Alaska Airlines continues to sell nonstop flights between Los Angeles and La Paz, with flights available into the fall and winter of 2026.

The flight itself takes roughly two and a half hours, covering approximately 836 miles between Los Angeles and La Paz.

That means you can leave Los Angeles in the morning and be standing on the shores of the Sea of Cortez later that same day.
