Sea of Cortez
The Sea of Cortez, includes over 900 islands, providing nesting and stop-over habitat for hundreds of resident and migratory birds. Virtually all the islands in the region are uninhabited. The beaches on these deserted islands are some of the best in the world. This sub-set of the Pacific Ocean is widely considered one of the most biologically diverse marine areas on earth. Fish Mammal Life
The Sea of Cortez, is a breeding ground for sea lions marine turtles, and whales. Nine whale species ply the stunning crystal blue waters that are also home to 22 dolphin, and 5 turtle species. This incredibly beautiful oceanic sea is home to 30% of the world's marine mammals, and 39% of the world's fish species. Some 4,848 species of macro-invertebrates and 626 forms of marco algae are also found here. Come for the adventure. Come for the education. Come to get wet and have a great time. The Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California, was dubbed the World's Aquarium, by the famed oceanographer Jacques Cousteau.
